A) Freewheeling Diode Circuit

Advantage: Switching over voltage limited to 0.7 volt
Disadvantage: Breaking delay, breaking time increased by a factor 6 to 9.
Note: Above disadvantage can be used to your advantage if, for example, a temporary voltage drop of around several milliseconds has to be bridged
B) Circuit with One Diode / Zener Diode Diode Assembly

Disadvantage: Breaking delay, breaking time increased by a factor 2 to 6
